I. Made. A. Suit! When Katia Fabrics asked me to collaborate with them for a Chistmas Fabrics Challenge I couldn't say no. They didn't even had to twist my arm ;-). The Katia fabrics webshop contains, besides the yarns they are well known for also, quite a selection of poplin, sweats and canvas fabrics with fun prints. Really suitable for kids clothing and making bags. I decided to challenge myself and make something for me to wear. You can vote for my outfit from 21 until 23 december by liking the photo in this link !  The fabrics  I choose two fabrics that for me have a very Christmassy feel to them. Both poplin fabrics. The black one has a lovely little seahorse print. And the white one is called Xmas poplin and has icebears, trees and snowflakes on them. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... Ik hou van snelle projectjes met vlot resultaat, maar kan ook erg mijn tanden in wat grotere en uitvoerige projecten zetten. Zoals dit jurkje! Dit jurkje heeft een aantal maanden op mijn paspop mogen bivakkeren. Van enkel alleen reepjes stof tot een heus jurkje, gemaakt voor een speciale gelegenheid. En tijdens dit proces weer wat nieuwe technieken uitgeprobeerd en dus opnieuw veel geleerd.  (English version) Slow sewing In maart van dit jaar was ik al gestart met het uittesten van het vlechtwerk. Ik maakte eerst bias-reepjes van ongebleekt katoen (15 mm breed) en probeerde eerst uit op welke manier ik de reepjes het beste kon fixeren. Ik vroeg daarbij ook de hulp van mijn volgers op Instagram en Facebook . Zelf probeerde ik het met textiellijm en kreeg de suggestie om strijkband en vliesofix te gebruiken.  Met een biasband maker (kleinste maat) en de strijkbout fixeerde ik de reepjes. Okay, okay... ( Nederlandse versie ) this fabric may not fit this time of year, but the color certainly does! I am excited about it. The fabric is similar to tweed but then slightly lighter, I has been lying around for a while and I actually took it out of my stash to make a bag out of it (and I will definitely do that, for my next  BERNINA Blog ). It was on the cutting table at the same time as the polkadot fabric which I made into lovely summer top (check this blog) and that inspired me to the combination. The sturdiness of the fabric makes a nice silhouette. It keeps tight where it may be tight and is therefore slimming. In addition, no unevenness can be detected. Looking for a pattern that has a higher waist, I came across the pattern from Knipmode with a vintage look, very classic. Love it!
