Fabrics Xmas Challenge Suit

I. Made. A. Suit! When Katia Fabrics asked me to collaborate with them for a Chistmas Fabrics Challenge I couldn't say no. They didn't even had to twist my arm ;-). The Katia fabrics webshop contains, besides the yarns they are well known for also, quite a selection of poplin, sweats and canvas fabrics with fun prints. Really suitable for kids clothing and making bags. I decided to challenge myself and make something for me to wear. You can vote for my outfit from 21 until 23 december by liking the photo in this link !  The fabrics  I choose two fabrics that for me have a very Christmassy feel to them. Both poplin fabrics. The black one has a lovely little seahorse print. And the white one is called Xmas poplin and has icebears, trees and snowflakes on them. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... The suit My first idea was to make a jumpsuit, out of the black Seahorse poplin, but I like my garments to be versatile and soon changed it to be ...

REFASHION: Three pieces into a snazzy two-piece!

Refashioning something that's inspired by... This years challenge from The Refashioners is  reimagining something that was once something else, and turning it into your inspiration image. Well....that's a hard one for me. The inspiration in refashioning for me is mostly the garments itselves. But I like a challenge so I went for it. On my Pinterest I gathered loads of inspiration images so there I would pick one image....  Hmmm, difficult!  I decided to make a compilation of images of jackets that inspire me and work from there. Going through my thriftshop stash I found three items I could use for a jacket. I picked up these pieces in the thriftshop because I'm into plaid at the moment, I'm a sucker for leopard print and my everlasting love for black and white striped pieces. (Check my  Instagram  and you'll see....)  Pattern chosing and dismatle I chose a pattern of a bomberjacket I used before and cut it so that I was able to u...

Lattice-dress!

I love quick little projects with fast results, but I can also really get my teeth into somewhat bigger and more complicated projects. Like this dress! This dress has been allowed to camp on my mannequin for a few months. From only strips of fabric to a real dress, made for a special occasion. And during this process I've tried some new techniques and learned a lot! Again. ( Nederlandse versie ) Slow sewing In March of this year I already started testing the weave. I first made bias strips of unbleached cotton (15 mm wide) and tried out how I could fixate the strips the best. I also requested the help of my followers on  Instagram  and  Facebook . I myself tried it with textile glue and got the suggestion to use the ironing-band and Vliesofix. With a biasband maker (smallest size) and the iron I fixed the strips. Vliesofix will release if you do not stitch it (I didn't want to stitch it) and the band was too laborious, so I choose textile...
